I guess he figured those tactics worked - they beat him the first time around, right? Unfortunately, those sorts of shenanigans are old hat this year. People are tired of that crap, and rightly so.

Despite my own support for Obama for about a year, now, it's sad to see the caricature of himself that McCain has become.

And, nastyboy, you're very right -- Palin was a disaster for the Repubs. She's not mainstream, not even close; she's obviously incurious about facts that are - or should be - important to anyone seeking high office, demonstrated in her cringe-worthy answers when interviewed.

And the attacks Mrs. Palin has hurled against the Democrats (and specifically the charges she's made at Obama) about relationships with Bill Ayers or whomever seemed to ring hollow considering her own dubious affiliations -- the straight line connecting her, her husband, and a bunch of Alaskan secessionists, namely.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10290429.post-36450021395397516932008-11-01T14:49:00.000-06:002008-11-01T14:49:00.000-06:00McCain lost it when he stopped being John McCain. ...McCain lost it when he stopped being John McCain. I also felt he was the best man for the job in 2000.

He wasn't even on the radar for the GOP nom this year. He was far behind the fron runners. He won by getting out to the people, running town halls, running on his record and taking his message to the people. He won it the old fashioned way, one vote at a time.

Palin was a disaster. For the exact reasons you specified, and the financial crisis probably finished him off more than anything he did, but his biggest mistake was letting the usual GOP hatchet men run his campaign. The republican dirty tricks just weren't going to work this time, and destroyed his greatest asset, his integrity.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10290429.post-11431409654987516272008-10-31T10:30:00.000-06:002008-10-31T10:30:00.000-06:00So you were disappointed because McCain wanted to ...So you were disappointed because McCain wanted to win? I too had much hope in McCain, and though at no point did I want another Republican to win, I've defended him on several occasions. Sadly, McCain's admirable traits have evaporated, perhaps coinciding with the addition of Karl Rove to his campaign team.
Thanks for the post, Henderson. Now we know what you do all day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
