2 random lists.

List One: Random things that annoy me (in random order).

1. People with honourary Ph.D.'s who go around calling themself a Doctor. ie: Dr. Joe Smith.
2. People who stand on the "walk" side of an escalator and then are too daft to move when 20 people are waiting for him or her to move.
3. Cell Phones. In general.
4. People who talk really loud on their cell phones on the bus or train.
5. People who turn their iPod or Diskman up so loud that everyone with a 20 feet radius can clearly hear what they're listening to! It TOTALLY defeates the purpose of having headphones in the first place!!!
6. Pretentious rich kids who brag about not having to work while going to school.
7. Bouncers at bars. In general.
8. Reality TV.
9. How artificial the cheese in Kraft Dinner tastes.

The LOTR's collection annoys you! Why? Family Guy! That show's hilarious. I liked City of God alot. You don't like Bowling for Columbine. That movie made me laugh at the morons interviewed in it. Man some of these movies are good. As a cowboy you should put down some westerns that kinda sucked like Open Range. Man I was disappointed with that movie. Nothing like Wyatt Earp which I think is Costner's best. I still need to see Tombstone which I hear is awsome.

they're two separate lists, dude.

Well, seeing as how I own those DVD's, I hardly find them annoying. It's two different lists.

And yes, Family Guy rocks my socks.

Would that be a comment on a certain premier's wife here in Alberta?

Anon, I didn't want it to be that obvious, but yes. It quite a bit pretentious, in my opinion.

What is Ralph Klein's wife a PhD in? Oh and since you own those movies cowboy Dave, where are the cowboy movies you own? And why own Good-bye Lenin. That movie can't be that good!

Not sure what Ms. Klein's honourary PhD is in. I didn't mention her in ths post mainly because I didn't want to downplay the charity work she has done in Calgary. I just think it's quite pretentious that she goes around calling herself "Dr. Klein." I kind of see it as an insult to all of those people who actually did the work to get their real PhD.

As for Goodbye Lenin, it is quite a good film. You should rent it, Emil. It takes place during the late 1980's and early 1990's in East Germany (the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification of Germany). I recommend it.

Just to be clear, it wasn't a "dig" against Ms. Klein, but rather to any honourary PhD who calls themselves "Dr."

Dr. Klein recieved her Honourary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary in 2002 for all of her contributions to the enhancing the lives of Alberta's children, which is a passion of hers. She is also a very nice person.

I am pretty sure the majority of Honourary Degrees given out by Canadian Universities are Doctor of Laws, but I guess I am not 100% sure.

Anyways, I originally came here to brag about our dvd collection (which is likely somewhere around 300 titles strong...). But I obviously got sidetracked!

Does getting a doctorate in chiropractic count as calling myself a Dr. Vargas in your books Dave. Thats what I'll be getting in two years. Funny enough I call some of the worst teachers I've ever had in my life at Texas Chiropractic College by Dr. even though they're PhDs. Its just a fake glory name. Next time someone has a heart attack ask the PhD to call themselves doctor and they'll prob. say no.
I might end up renting Good-bye Lenin. I like watching political films alot. My favorites have got to be Nixon and JFK which are both by Oliver Stone b/c of the way he dramatizes them. I recommend watching "The fog of war", "The hunting of the president" or "The War Room". As you can tell, I'm a big Bill Clinton fan. I saw "Outfoxed" last week on DVD and now I fell guilty watching Fox News even for the entertainment value.

300 DVD's, eh? Looks like I have quite a bit of catching up to do. ;-)

And again, my intention was never to downplay the charity work Ms. Klein has done. It's the pretentiousness that annoys me.

Emil: I don't have any issue with people who earned their PhD through study calling themselves Dr. (heck, I work at a University, and all the PhD's call themselves Dr.).
