che guevera to run for the ndp?

From Derek's recap of week 2 of the election...

"Now it’s rumoured that former vice-regal and Manitoba relic Ed Schreyer, 70, is lined up for the NDP in Selkirk-Interlake. Somebody, for the love of god, hide the corpse of Che Guevera before it’s drafted as an NDP candidate."

I have it on good authority that "one time, ed schreyer attended the Edmonton Icelandic Consular ball while he was gg" and that "he was a very nice fellow" and that "those were the days when it was cool to have the gg come to your event."

"Ed" will be Layton's legacy. Either or.

Viva Comrade Che!

Only brother Che can tell you with conviction that lowering the GST is bad fiscal policy and the corporate tax cuts during this point in the business cycle runs contrary to Kensian economics.

And he'll serve the people of Calgary Southest with pride.

Viva Che!

From someone I interviewed who was active on gay liberation issues in Winnipeg from the early '70s: "Schreyer himself responded to a question on human rights protections for homosexuals at a town hall meeting on campus during the 1977 election by saying that anyone with this problem had no business speaking in a political forum."

As for Comrade Che running...well, I don't know if I'd want him running the economy, but he'd have a better foreign policy critique than Layton.
