I've read excerpts of Whats the matter with Kansas. It seemed pretty interesting. I forgot about it till you mentioned it. It'll be hard to crack that state. I should know, I lived in Kansas City for 8 months. However things do change over time. Alberta one day might vote Liberal (SHUDDER). I think that the Dems might have a shot at Congress or the White House this year or 2008 if they unite with a simple plan like Gringrich's Contract with America. B/c the Republicans are what the federal Liberals are, arrogant and disorganized and corrupt. Harper did this same strategy. 5 key priorities instead of like 50 for Paul Martin and they all were hard to understand. I hope the Dems put up someone who isn't a pussy or boring like Jonh Kerry. I'm all for Wesley Clark if he runs god-willing. We're gonna be in war for awhile now I think and we need a 4 star General as commander in chief. Please let me know how that book on Alberta politcs uncovered is. I might buy it if its that good.
I recently finished reading "Breakfast of Champions" by Kurt Vonnegut which was an excellent read. While not as political/philosophical as most of my reads, it was nonetheless a very interesting and engaging novel about small town USA and the struggle with racism, sexism and self-identity. Heavily recommended.
War by Gwyn Dyer is a great book. For a Navy boy he did a great job of telling the story of us grunts.
