premier ed stelmach...?

Say hello to Premier Ed Stelmach on the third ballot...

Most recent second ballot results of the Alberta PC race...

Jim Dinning - 44.000
Ed Stelmach - 36,000
Ted Morton - 32,000

Wow...

First, Stephane Dion... now maybe Ed Stelmach... it's a good night for third place finishers...

I may or may not be heading off to the PC party at the Aviation Centre...

Wow, that's gotta be a huge embarrassment for Dinning. I wonder if he'll drop out of politics altogether should he lose tonight.

Dinning or Stelmach, either one's fine. The main thing is that Morton is sent back into the wilderness.

The scrum with Jim was very revealing. He was rude with reporters when asked "will you run to be an MLA in an Ed Stelmach government?" His reply was to not answer the question.

We've seen the last of Diamond Jim in electoral politics. Much like the man he's been compared to, Paul Martin Jr, Jim will quit rather than go the distance. He'll go pout on the sidelines...

All the Libs and Dippers in Alberta couldn't buy Dinning a $5 crown!!
In the final count, Dinning placed SECOND, and then with the 2nd choice Morton votes Stemach ended up with over 77,000 votes (Stelmach is a quiet, Ukrainian farmer from small town northern Alberta, grassroots country).

Dinnings attacks worked, Morton was bumped to 3rd place and also knocked Dinning himself out. too funny.

Kinda like the anybody but Rae or Iggy movement...yep, they are all out.

Welcome to the New Alberta and the New Canada.

I called both the Dion and Stelmach victories. Feeling pretty smug for a moment or two.

Ijust wished I had taken more bets.

Congrats on calling it, Ken. I think you may have been the only person to hedge both bets...

I think this weekend just made the arguement for some form of single or multi-memeber alternative voting. This was the best day ever!

Yeah, strong leadership showing from a rookie MP with a large dedicated following and with the distinction of being the kingmaker to whom Stelmach indirectly owes his title to.

Quite the wilderness in that legislature.
