sick to the gutfeld [fox news mocks canada's role in afghanistan].

Fox News' Greg Gutfeld and guests on a recent taping of his show thought it would be funny to belittle and mock the Canadian military's role in Afghanistan. Four more Canadian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan today, bringing the total to 116 Canadians who have died in the conflict.

What a sicko.

UPDATE: You can email Brian Lewis at FOX NEWS to demand an apology.

This really pisses me off. It's hard to imagine how some people can be so ignorant.

Fox News should be ashamed for letting such crap get on the air.

""The Canadians are basically telling the Russians to come on over."

There is no logic or recognition of reality in that, or any other statement made during this clip. How more ignorant can you get?

Yet, what would Canada do if it weren't for the USA?

Perfect example of the complete and utter wasteland of intelligent discourse in Rupert Murdoch's gross media empire.

This kind of stuff doesn't even deserve a comment. Fox news is racing itself to the bottom.

Someone should show these people how to look for info on Wikipedia.

I just emailed Brian Lewis and I hope lots of Canadians do the same! Demand an apology!

Try not to take Fox too seriously. I don't.

How can you get excited about the opinions of someone whose career achievement is a cable news show that runs at 3 a. m.? Don't turn this loser into a winner by paying any attentiion to him.

When you post the video you give YouTube and Fox more hits, which in turn gives them (and Rupert) more advertising money. You've just been punk'd, so next time don't post 'em unless you WANT to support 'em.

P.S. My word verification today is 'conab'!

This is just in poor taste. I liken it to the kids in school who pick on others to feel big about themselves. It's verbal bullying.

It wouldn't surprise me if a followup show contained scenes of them making fun of people who demand apologies.

I think what's important to acknowledge here is how we have all stood together to say how insulting this is. We may disagree on the role of the military and exactly how much we should be involved in this conflict, but it's nice to know that we all respect those who put their lives on the line for service to the country and to the world.

The arrogance of a Country who has, single-handedly, ruined the world economy due to greed and ignorance is astounding.. our banks are secure, and as soon as China asks to call in their debt - we will truly be laughing last.

Oh.. btw.. during the second world war, as Canada was fighting, the U.S. was cowering under their blankets until they were forced into the war by the attack on Pearl Harbor..

We can't tar a whole country by the comments of a group of morons.. but truly, the cause of small 'c' conservatives has more cause to oppose assholes like this than any member of the Liberals or the NDP.

For some reason the video has been removed from YouTube. I have found another here for you to re-embed.

Funny how he called the guy out for Mexican stereotyping and let him rant when he was Canadian stereotyping.

I found this distasteful and unfunny, too, but does everyone realize how insecure and provincial it makes us (Canadians, generally) look by responding to it at all?

A confidant people would take this in stride; just because someone's pushing your buttons doesn't mean you HAVE to react.

Who cares.

Anytime any american media personality makes a comment about Canada good or bad, it's front page news the next day and we start screeching like a bunch of poncey hair dressers.

Trashing the U.S. is our national pass time. But somehow we're off limits to them? Man up for crying out loud.

It's Fox News. 'Nuff said.

Roblaw;

"The arrogance of a Country who has, single-handedly, ruined the world economy due to greed and ignorance is astounding.. our banks are secure, and as soon as China asks to call in their debt - we will truly be laughing last."

To typify this handful of right-wing Fox News morons as indicative of the entire United States does a big disservice to the majority of Americans who voted for people specifically to turn things around, last November. Those same people who were elected - like Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress - are now strenuously working to roll back years of conservative mismanagement. We can't forget it was conservative Republican-driven financial deregulation, years ago, that facilitated their banks' destructive and greed-fuelled path into this mess.

Besides, if the United States economy slides deeper into recession (or depression) because China calls in its debt, Canadians may indeed laugh last like you say.

But we won't be laughing too long; They're still our largest trading partner by a country mile. Alberta will be hit just as hard, if not worse, given that the US is pretty much the sole recipient of Canada's petroleum exports.

RC.. As I indicate, I'm not tarring a whole country - but the reality is that, collectively, they have through their government, brought ruin upon many the world over.

And as for Obama, unfortunately, he's just doing the "same old, same old".. taking his cues from the same people who backed Clinton and Bush - people like AIG.

I mean just last week we find out the dreaded "bonuses" were expressly allowed by his appointee, Dodd, who initially lied and said he had nothing to do with it..

It would be amusing if it wasn't tragic.

roblaw;

Uh... you're talking about Christopher Dodd, D-Conneticut, who is Chairman the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs? Right?

What would be really funny - if not so tragic - were if he actually were an "Obama appointee" like you say. For one, the Senate - not the President - selects the committees' memberships from its own ranks and chairmanship is usually determined by seniority. Secondly, Senator Dodd assumed his chairmanship of aforementioned Senate banking committee on January 4th, 2007. Obama's only been President since noon on January 20th, 2009.

"Belittle and mock the Canadian military's role in Afghanistan."
1. They did not mock the Canadian military's role in Afghanistan. They just did not know about their role.
2. The clear majority of the discussion was about the DECISION by the Canadian military to take a year off.
There's no reason to apologize for this.
