still missing: premier ed stelmach.

Thanks to @Sirthinks for providing photos of two Albertans joining the search to find missing Premier Ed Stelmach. While the two Albertans searched the Legislature grounds high and low, the media is reporting that Stelmach was briefly spotted teeing off on a golf course in Jasper National Park.

You can download the print-quality PDF here. Please help the search by printing these off and posting them all over your towns and cities! (Send a picture of you putting up a poster, and I will post/link to it on this blog!)

He looks more and more like Getty every day.

The Premier goes on holiday and Daveberta calls him "missing." The entire media gallery knew the Premier would be off for most of August, which is why no newspaper, TV station or radio station is the least bit surprised Stelmach isn't around. This just shows that Daveberta is not the least bit connected to the political scene in Alberta. If he had made just one phone call to the government, he could have found out the Premier was on vacation. One call.

On vacation while the province racks up a record deficit? While the unemployment rate goes through the roof? No wonder the province is in such trouble.

Dave WELCOME TO THE 21ST CENTURY! ED CAN DO HIS WORK FROM THE GOLF COURSE OR ANYWHERE HAVENT YOU HEARD OF A BLACKBERRY?

Anonymous said...

Nobody ever uses their blackberry to do work while on a golf course. Who are you trying to kid?

Are those photos of "young Liberals"? At least young commies (cough NDP) have piercings and tattoos to mask their, ah, features.

These two need some accoutrements if they're to be in any more photos.

Ed did a great job on Bill 44.

Dave, the premier can't take vacation? Give me a break. If it's such a slow blogging day in your world, don't post anything. You're merely trying to make something out of nothing here. Frankly, I thought you were bigger than that.

My paystub says "Earned Vacation." From his record of late I would say that his stub should say "leave without pay." With billions of dollars in deficit there is certainly nothing left to be "Banked."

Thanks again for all the comments. As I commented in the first Missing: Premier Ed Stelmach post, I can appreciate that some people have different tolerance levels for satire, but please don't despair. Adam and I are aspiring to be equal opportunity satirists and this is only the first of many collaborations that we have planned!

Cheers,

Dave

Dave, just because Rick Mercer is a decent political satirist, dosen't mean you are. I can't tolerate satire if it's funny. This however is not.

Sorry Dave, this is pretty weak. Just because you label it as satire doesn't make it so.
But, at least the Journal is outsourcing it's work to you.

For those younger than a certain age, or new to the province, the reason the Conservatives on this board are so sensitive about the golfing Premier is likely because it evokes strong memories of Don Getty.

In 1987, during the Principal collapse, Getty's aides told the media he was 'working out of the office.' Shortly after that the media tracked down Getty on the golf course. While people were losing their life savings, the Premier was taking it easy.

I wasn't in the province at that time, but the damaging effect on Getty's popularity has been talked about ever since.

I imagine, with the current economic crisis, the last thing the Tories want is a similar incident.

Oh, spoke too soon, with Mr. Arab's arrival this should get fun. Welcome back to the Irrelevant Show!

This is really funny. Thanks for doing this Adam & Dave!

I think it is great Dave, keep up the good work. Lots of you need to get a sense of humour, it's good to have a little fun instead of always having to take politics so serious. Holiday or not, he wasn't to be found.

The Premier was on vacation?
I thought he was just out to lunch.
Defn.
1. not giving your attention to what you are doing
2. lacking good mental judgement.

Ed is missing even when he's in the legislature...

... missing the point... missing the boat... missing the gist... missing on all cylinders!

... but then I'm partisan; I'm with the party of people who believe in responsible government.

Sadly, he did more for the province on the golf course than he has done in the legislative assembly. We now have a new wing for the Stollery, thanks to the largesse of some of Alberta's richest citizens.

Progressive Conservatives are a little touchy since their smug sense of self satisfaction wore off, now they have just gone down a couple pegs.
