ted morton gives you an offer you can't refuse.
Is Sustainable Resource Development Minister Ted Morton going duck hunting, or is he taking up arms to fight deficits in Alberta and Ottawa? Maybe he is he preparing for the battle against Liberal insurgents in Calgary-West? Or perhaps he is taking the cue of another former Wyoming resident...?
Actually, the picture was on a flyer advertising an upcoming "Golf 'n Gun" fundraiser for the Foothills-Rockyview PC Association (and in all seriousness, this is probably the coolest picture I've ever seen of the former University of Calgary academic).

I love it.
I thought this might be part of the homeless conservative showdown ala Dick Cheney
Join the movement!
Kevin Taft should have had more pictures like this to soften up his image.
Can anyone picture David Swann with a shotgun? Brian Mason would look like a disgruntled postal worker.
Even Ed Stelmach looks like to much of a slouch to go hunting.
Go Ted!
Isn't it bad style to point a gun at someone? Any "sportsmen" out there?
Ted Morton is the man.
I'm still laughing at the image of Brian Mason with a rifle. That's one pissed off postal-worker!
Or surly bus driver, "Pay exact change; or else..."
"Isn't it bad style to point a gun at someone? Any "sportsmen" out there?"
Yes, there are. And yeah, it's bad form to point a gun at someone.
Years ago, my firearms instructor made it a point that you should never point a gun at anyone, as you should never assume any gun is unloaded; Plenty of people have been killed by 'unloaded' guns.
By the way, why the red face? Poor Ted looks like he's woefully embarrassed, or maybe just been out in the sun too long.... ;)
Actually, the gun is not pointed at the photographer. If it was, those two big holes would look MUCH larger. And, Ted's face is flushed because the very idea of killing something makes blood rush to certain parts of his anatomy. Bambi (his wife - no, I am NOT kidding) has come to dread the Golf 'n Guns fundraiser...
This photo makes me sick. Absolutely sick. Any sportsman knows you don't point a firearm at something unless you plan on shooting it. It is an EXTREMELY basic rule any hunter knows. This knocks Ted down a major notch in my books. (Regardless of politics.)
Sorry, that's just how I feel about this kind of thing. It's unforgivable.
Isn't it possible that the camera is on a tripod and that Mr. Morton had every intent of shooting it?
